Abstract
Recent developments in political leadership raise concerns because of the many moral hazard that political leaders do and eventually lead to the impeachment of several political leaders, including Christian’s political leaders. For Christian’s political leaders, this crisis occurs as a result of personal failure to live up to the prevailing political ethics and norm, also due to a lack of attention to the leadership model exemplified in the Bible. This disgraceful behavior of political leaders reinforces the views of some Christians who consider the world of politics to be unholy, and therefore must be shunned. This study aims to: (1) to find the leadership model of Jesus in the passage of Luke 4 : 14-30, and (2) to find the formulation of the Theology of Political Leadership in accordance with the passage of Luke 4 : 14-30. The interpretation method used is Paul Ricouer's phenomenological hermeneutics. The results of the interpretation carried out on the text of Luke 4: 14-30 show that Christians must be involved in politics to protect the poor from oppression and to ensure they get empowerment through political policies that favor them. The model of Jesus as a leader whose mission is to present the kingdom of God in this world with the presence of Christians in politics must be used as an example by Christians who enter the world of politics. This interpretation of the text of Luke 4:14-30 results in the formulation of political theology: "Political Leadership Theology is the role and behavior of a person or group of political leaders in a society or government who base all their actions and policies following the example of Jesus and the guidance of the Holy Spirit empowering the whole community so that the presence of the Kingdom of God is felt by all the people. Future research is needed that interprets the Bible to get a more comprehensive formulation of leadership theology.
